Peter Copping

I don't know why I haven't written about Peter Copping at Nina Ricci. He has been one of my favorites for the past 3 years. He studied at Central Saint Martins, London's Royal College of Art and interned with Christian Lacroix (!!!!!!!!). But you probably know his work from Louis Vuitton where he was the Director of the Womenswear Studio under Marc Jacobs for 12 years. In retrospect, I can definitely see Peter's touch in Vuitton's collections during that period which explains why I was so into LV then...

I had the pleasure to meet him about a year ago. He was very nice and had a calm, confident but not aggressive energy to him. Obviously I was trying to play it cool, but I was fangirling inside. I have such respect/admiration for his work and was left liking him even more after the encounter.

"Peter hates panic; he's completely civilized."

I love Nina Ricci because it's a beautifully-made, feminine House. The fit of the collection is always fabulous because he uses a lot of knits to achieve a tailored yet comfortable look. They cut up to a size 44 which really can fit someone who is a size 46 (like a US 14ish!) with the knit factor. But I am most in love with his work in lace and transparency.  So romantic.

This was a harness and sheer shell sold together, so chic.

But back to CHANEL!

I am still thinking about this collection and show. I am really starting to love the silhouette in the first part of the show with the boxy top, corseted waist, and low slung skirt. Yasssss! Karl is a genius.

Can we also talk about the way the models were instructed to skip and frolic about????!!! Now that is luxury. How fun for modern couture to be shown in such a way. I think it's  f a b u l o u s !

Tim Blanks is da best.

One of my (and your soon-to-be) favorite fashion journalists, Tim Blanks has this fun ThrowBack Thursday video series on Style.com that you need to check out.
He is the Editor at Large for Style.com and I always appreciate when a video is offered as it gives a real perspective on what happened at the shows. I love that he offers a precise opinion you can trust on topics that are relevant and interesting.

I (like most fashion obsessed) have been a fan of his since his time at that hard-to-find Canadian show Fashion File. Whenever I stumbled up Fashion File, I felt as if the Fashion Gods were smiling on me. He provided a real, semi-candid look at fashion and I was/am always mesmerized.

*Yikes, Mr Galliano was a mess in that interview but he sure can work the runway hunty.

Look at that cutie in his early days.

And if that wasn't enough, he also won a CFDA Eugenia Sheppard Media Award in 2013.

Thank you Tim Blanks for being da best.

F A N T A S Y !

How beautiful are his couture gowns??! Every season they are by far my favorite part of any of his colletions. I also really love the Massaro sneakers with these fancy Couture pieces - very modern, delicate, and fun.

Thank the Couture heavens for Karl and his work.

PS. Have you seen Lagerfeld Confidential recently? I just rewatched it with a friend and it is very entertaining.
